    Iron Cross II Kl Packet

    Hi,

I have this EK2 packet. Not my collecting interest. Can anyone tell me if it is genuine? I am hoping to put it on the e-stand but want to make sure it is a good one.

It is stamped "Carl Forster & Graf" on the reverse.

    Thank you
    Pierce

        Hi John,

Thanks for commenting. It was sold to me as an original but just wanted to be sure before I listed.

        Kind regards
        Pierce

Sorry but I don't think it is ok, the LDO stamp is bogus

Hello again, I have seen two packets go on sale here and on dealer sites marked for Carl Forster &Graf.
One is without the LDO stamp, and one with the LDO stamp. I seem to recall, although they are accepted, there is an abundance of these two types circulating.
Personally, I do not have the LDO variation, only the mmd type.

              regards John

Actually, there is a really good thread from Marcus Hatton on this envelope.
Have a read, and I am off for a refresher.

                regards John

Sorry for the late reply but now I finally found time to do so.

First of all I had to say that it is my my personal opinion that the LDO warrant is no good. The packet is accepted but my concerns are with the LDO warrant printed on the reverse.

I can't understand what this warrant is doing on the packet of an (first) awarded medal.

I can understand these warrants in form of a paper slip with a privatly purchased award (replacement/additional) ie LDO cased mothers cross mini's, woundbadges, KvK's, EK I and II.

Also paper packets with the LDO logo printed on the front i can understand why the reverse is printed with the warrant.

I have never seen other packets of first awarded medals that bears this warrant, think of the KvkII class, Ost medal, westwall, woundbadge. Even the L/55 marked packets for the black woundbadges don't have this warrant.

So for me, personal, don't understand this stamp and therfore not for my collection.
