Black Wound Badge Envelope - Oppinions

Any oppinions on this envelpe? This came with a black L/11 wound badge that turned out to be fake. Does this envelope appear to be good or fake? Oppinions please. Thanks.

I'm not really sure about this one, but the LDO stamp seems a little small and the font on the warranty seems odd to me, and also I'm used to seeing the flap on the back come to more of a point instead of being "cut off" or flat like this one is.
We can wait for Marcus, Allen, or Thomas though to see what they have to say, but I'm leaning towards a bad one.

Not a problem, but wait for the experts on this one.

          Hi Sammy,

Well, I believe you certainly have a fake packet here: What it is trying to emulate is that of a genuine guise of the ''smaller'' pattern in the LDO series of packets; but it has failed to comply on several points.

Firstly, on these packets the ink would be a dark blue - shades vary as you'd expect with such printing - and the next distinguishing trait is that the fold on the main body of the packet is a broad fold on the vertical, and on the LEFT.

The cut of the flap that extends over the opening doesn't have the lines and cut either I'd want/expect to see, nor does the bottom folded seal either. Although the concept of the flap is correct on these very packets, and that's as much as can be said regarding that!

The second pattern LDO logo on the obverse to all intents looks as good as it can be, and so does the warranty in so far as it has the correct spacing...etc However, the placement of the warranty on the reverse is more in line with the ''larger'' or rather standard sized packets. With this smaller sorts you will find the warranty in the vicinity of a more central position due to the left hand fold - the opposite of course can be said of the standard packet sorts.

There's more to be said, but we don't want to give too much away to the fakers.

So as I said as the beginning I'm afraid this is in my opinion is a fake.

Thanks for the lesson Marcus, that was exceptional. I kind of expected the packet to be fake since the wound badge turned out to be fake. You certainly are a wealth of knowledge and hopefully one day I can reach your level. Thanks for your time and expertise.

PS. How did you become so knowledgeable on the subject? From years of observation or are there any reference books that are out there to inform?

            SammyT.
