          Hi Jay,

The is a case made by a yet unknown maker of D&B, we assume this because each of the components in the case have the letters D&B and then a digit code for the base, lid and case bottom.

These cases are thought to have been one of the earlier origin cases, and are perhaps more common than not, as we seem them rather often.

It's anyone's guess to how long they were produced, and I have theory regarding their longevity, but lets just say broadly they were ''mass produced.''

As to the makers of EK's that lived in these, well, I don't think we will ever know all makers and those that we do ''know'' of that came in these can not be unequivocally proved as original to the case most of the time anyway.

So, on that basis and considering what we have here in my opinion is perhaps an ''earlier'' one of these cases, I don't you can be proven as incorrect per se with what ever cross you put in it. Other than perhaps a later cross or an LDO marked example to my way of reckoning.

That's just me, Jay. Others may disagree and propose something that makes more sense than myself.

Just as a note, I've had 2 or 3 "6." marked/cased EK1s, and they all had black inserts as opposed to the normal white. Not sure why, or if it's just an oddity I've encountered in my limited collecting.

                Anybody else noticed this?
