Frankly, in my opinion I do not think this case is TR, nor do I think intended for an EK2, private purchase or otherwise.

I would say the probability of this being post war in manufacture is very likely, and by that I'm not intimating it's a fake, I'm just of the inclination it was intended for another purpose in life.

What I would also say is this: if you want a 'cased' EK2 then go for an LDO variety, or one of the 'accepted' hard shell cased versions - which are few and far between (....to buy anyway)

However, the cased EK2 in their accepted forms, I personally think far exceed their worth in monetary terms, rather like the cased 1914-18 Honour Crosses phenomenon.

But I am one of those fools with his money.....so I can hardly talk!!

I just think collectors should be very cautious when it comes to cased EK2 (TR) and most certainly buy the item, NOT the story. And whilst I'm guilty of never taking my own advice; certainly seek a balance of opinion from other collectors, also.
