      Hi Joe,

That's a nice conditioned pair, very nice indeed!

What other little gems do you have then?

            Hello Joe,

the silver WB to your packet is imo from Wächtler&Lange and not a SuL WB. Can you show a closeup of the catch area and look for a "100" marking there?
            Best regards, Andreas

It is a W&L wound badge, yes.

You are right on there Andrea. 100 is on the catch base. This is surprising to me. I have had these badges for a dozen years or more but never really examined them (maybe 6 or 8 different) to check the LDO with the packet name. All seem to match but this silver WB and an EKII that has no LDO on it. Such is life I guess. I'll split them up. Is the LDO list in the old Anglia FFF book accurate. What about his statement that the numbers changed during the war?

Joe, the LDO list on the forum here is accurate -

Mike, I am curious. Does the WAF list have any documentation? We know that Angolia frequently made unsubstantiated pronouncements, but provided period sources for some statements. Is there such substantiation for the WAF information? Doehle, Prasidialkanslei Verordnungsblatter or so forth? Or is it assembled collector wisdom?

Joe, the WAF list is compiled through input from members based on facts not speculation(moderators please correct me if I'm wrong).

In the police forum, we usually provide documentation with reference to specific ministerial pronouncements. "..through input from members based on facts.." would seem to be "assembled collector wisdom". I'm not trying to start anything, but information is only as good as the source.

                              Hey Joe,

I'm sorry, but my response will have to be so short and sweet as I'm at work and I have to fly (literally)

Periodicals, advertisements, catalogues, official records of sorts.......etc, etc do aid us in identification of makers with specific relations to PK numbers (1, 2, 3.......) and LDO numbers (L/12, L/53.......etc)

I THINK both Angolia and Ailsby incorrectly identify the PK numbers as LDO numbers and state these lists were provided by Steinhauer & Luck of Ludensheid....????

The below is from a 1940 catalogue of S&L, note the L 16 which is S&L's LDO number (PK number 4); in the above text it also states about retail awards - ''Nachbildungen''.
