Frankly, I think this case could very well be okay!!! Overall, I like the case and as already noted the base to reminds me also of the Honour Cross (pre war and the post '39 cases have this base construction 'style' - the later were 'sets', the earlier issue you had the option to purchase the case of course separately) as indeed also the LDO case for the brooch form of the Mothers Cross that has this 'built' up base form too.

Can we say the traits are indicative of it being early? I'd like to think it could cater within the realms of being an 'earlier' - wartime in this guise being perhaps more likely - private purchase example most likely prior to the LDO influence in the scheme of things, proper.

To my mind, it's a basic case pattern of sorts (the shell pattern likely used pre war also for.......??) with a non specific relating outer covering and the silver strip is of no real relevance - it's the base that counts here for intent and purpose, and I like the look of it.

I really don't say that often about so called private purchase cases as most of them are more than dubious bordering wishful thinking on the owners part.

I'd buy it, but I can't afford to at the moment for a couple of months.


Anyway, I need to go to bed now, I've been up all bloody night.
