    BWB box

I recently read that the LDO box that is commonly associated with the BWB was used for other awards also. Can anyone confirm this information? If that is so, which other awards were given? Do any of you guys have seen a marked difference between the black box, and the one that has sort of a blueish tone? I figured that the statement could be correct.

Depends on the series and pattern of LDO box i.e the first series box with the first pattern LDO logo (only) was a dark blue rectangular box intended for the BWB and it is a just longer sorts than the common rectangular one we see in burgundy and black and a near on black to the eye, but a very dark blue colour box - both first and second pattern LDO logo's present on those.

Back to the first series, this box is recorded by the LDO on it's inception to be used in conjuection with the BWB and Westwall medal - that is written, but you can assume other medal/awards were sold in such boxes too.

Blueish tone ? The very pale blue one ? That was inteneded (first series boxes with first and second pattern LDO logo) for spangen (and the grey examples too), literally from an EK2 spange to a Prague Castle bar also (the latter also evident in second pattern logo'd burgundy square box sorts too - not the {know as} MK larger square style)

The 'French' blue coloured one was intended for the gold wound badge only, second pattern logo only known.

The black, burgundy and very dark blue were used for the BWB it seems as it was also again spangen at a time and what else is open to suggestion really.

Just to mention the MK box again, this also was used for the BWB too. We know this from ink stamp designated examples pertaining to such.

        Marcus,

Isn't there a fake dark blue/black LDO box that is sold with a BWB in in?

Seem to recall a lot of them around a few years back.
