I just picked up an L/52 screwback 1914 EK1. It's a TR replacement cross. It came cased in this LDO stamped screwback fitted case. I have never had a screwback case and have limited experience with EK1 cases in general. I have taken a few shots and hope I can get some opinions on it. I hope it's good.

NIce original case. I have one just like it and have had it for years. It is kind of a generic case for screw back EK's and KVK's.

Another thing. Are these cases hard to find and would they sell for more than the average pinback EK1 case? Also, Would this be a case a 1939 screwback could be housed in?Comment

Screwback cases generally sell for more than pin recess examples, I wouldn't go so far as to say they are rare, but you see perhaps one to every ten or so pin recess examples - as an idea.
However, this exact case shell is pretty common as in the inventory of awards it also housed the wound badges. Of course not the exact same base, but the shell and outer covering.
Could a 1939 EK be housed in it ? It's a retail case, so it' possible a TR Imperial could have been purchased in this as indeed a '39 version - the case in my opinion is latter war, not late war per se, but if pushed for a an approx date I'd certainly estimate mid/late '43 onwards only for this type of case.
Certainly not early/earlier regarding the materials overall the gauge of the cardboard etc etc And of course the LDO logo on the liner (and not just pertaining to the premise this is what I call the second pattern LDO logo - whch itself dates from a time of 42/43 in transition).......several culminating things in fact give us a vague idea for an educated guess.Comment
