    My Packeted Awards - BWB, KVK2, KVK2 w/swords & Ostmedaille

    Dear All,

Sorry for yet another post, but since I had some good replies regarding the EKII packet. I thought I'd show some of my other packeted awards. A 13mm Ostmedaille, a 32mm Black Wound Badge, a 8mm KVK without swords and an unknown maker KVK 2 with swords. I have researched the name on the back of the packet and am unable to establish a maker number for the KVK2 with swords example. The packet just doesn't seem correct either. It is a bit of a shame tht the BWB packet has been ripped to get t the contents, a very frail but nice packet though. Thought I'd show them to you if you were interested.

As always, all replies and opinions welcomed,

    Many Thanks,

    Gareth

    Hi Gareth,

I think all these packets are just fine. The kvk with swords packet you don't see everyday, It has the same lettering as the EKII packet you showed in another thread. The MM is on a different place than one would expect. This lettering can also be found on fakes, but I don't think this one is fake!

    Cheers, Thomas

ps. Can you place a better picture of the MM

I'd have to say that I also believe the KVK packet in this instant looks to be good also.

I may have a blue example for the KVK without swords, I'll check on that and compare.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. Any idea on a maker for the KVK2 with swords as according to the packet ?

        Many Thanks,

        Gareth

Yep, I have a blue one of these, the blue seems to be more evident in collections to my knowledge than this very example of yours !! I don;t recall seeing one as of yet, but I've not checked my files and I've rather alot of pic's on those.

The designation in part concering the cross title is the same, but my 11. Klasse text is larger - and with the addition of ohne Schwerter of course on that example.

I have a different maker on my packet - I'll scan it should I be free sometime over the weekend.

              Dear All,

Sorry about that - mis-read the question asking for a better close up of the maker mark on the back. It's a mystery to me, cannott make out the corresponding number for this maker. Can anyone help ?

              Here is this close up.

Thanks to everyone contributing this far.

              Many Thanks

                Hi Gareth,

                Thanks for the close up

This maker like the other famous maker from Schwäbisch-Gmünd (Carl Forster & Graf, EKII packet) isn't on the list (Präsidialkanzlei list of contracted makers) of known makers of TR awards.

Maybe one day we will know more about does "unknown" makers.

                Cheers, Thomas

I've a packet for 'Flower War' medal with this very maker too.

The lists of makers are of course incomplete with several unknown as such makers - another relevance in the study packets of course

                    Hi Marcus,

eh....which list are you using Do you mean there are still gaps in your list, or do you mean that it should be longer?

The list I'm using is complete (1-142).

I would say that those unknown makers like Hermann Bauer (not contracted) didn't wanted to say no to a soldier that wanted a private purchased medal. So they bought the medals from one of the contracted makers and put it in a packet with there "own" name on it.

just my 3cents.....I'm out of 2cents

                    Cheers, Thomas

Thank you all for your contributions.

You have managed to clear up 2 of my mystery cases, the EK2 Packet and this KVK2 packet. I'm over the moon. I've doubted both the items for some time but glad that you guys also have examples in your collections.

I must say I really really enjoy this cases forum, it is absolutely fantastically stimulating.

Thank you all very much indeed.

                      Gareth
