    PAB Bronce bag

    Hi guys!

Got this PAB Bronce bag, any chance it is a good one?

    Hi Peppe,

The packet is 100% ok, but I don't think that the text in orange is good. You see this with a lot of packets where they try to get some extra money for.

    Cheers, Thomas

ps. isn't bronce in germany written with a "Z" Bronze?

Bronce is also correct, perhaps it's old grammar ? I was talking to Frank H to this concern when we talked about the packet pic's for his book.

This dosen't appear to be one of the fakes - to date, concering on this example the stamped designation.

This specific type is deemed ok, this is not the type sold by the 'Hero' or variations of a sorts.

Purple or this red/pink ink is accepted and there are genuine examples with such colouring in the ink. So much to say we can trace one or two exaples so far back and the odd one has been found in so called retailor finds.

However, I'm not going to vouch 101% that these are ok personally, they are accepted and I've made the distinctiion between the fakes of these types, but one or two things just niggle me on these and it has nothing to do with spelling etc.

          Hi Marcus,

Nowadays you can find many good LDO packets like the one in this thread with extra text, also like the one in this thread. I think most of them are fake, and I'm glad that I'm not in to IAB's or PAB's.

Peppe, If Marcus says that this one is ok, you can trust him on this!

I think this can be very dangerous! I know that we can't be always right, but a lot of thinks in this hobby are accepted and that doesn't make it always pre '45. I admit that I was too harsh with saying that the orange text was bad, but we should look out with stating thing as being accepted.

          Cheers, Thomas

There are a few genuine LDO packets certainly with false designations, but more so totally fake LDO packets with designations - I'll have to show an excellent copy that is around.

In addition of course we have the blank 'Flower War' medal packets also with false designations too.

There's an array, only just recently in a thread there is a more than dubious IAB and GAB genuine packet with Souval maker marks printed on them, but to my mind the designation is totally bogus and very likely post a post war addition given the traits.

Like I say though in the highlighted quote portion there are genuine accepted examples with such ink titles: the S&L LDO wound badge packets (type 1) and for another example a PAB printed designated packet with the addition in ink of 'silber', there does exist a genuine '25' of the very same nature.

I'm trying to be objective until I can premise wise dispute or claim originality.

I'll present the thoughts, but my verdict on these is perhaps best left out at this moment in time. All I will say for the record is that at this very moment in time such packets will not be in my book under a genuine heading. In the past I've vouched for them, but I was was wrong, but we learn daily.

This very text is the one in the same on the Driver Badges packets, now these are accepted by big dealers and old time collectors - I don't want to go against the the grain just yet, until I have some reasonable concerns to substantiate a footing of argument.

Another trait I don't like is that the ink stamp is in almost exactly the same place on the packet at the same angle ????? This to me, is not an encouraging sign in all honesty !!!

Let me scan some packets and explain further in a little detail tonight.

Thomas send me you cell number mate, I'll give you a quick call mate.
