    BSW "Cloud Box"

I picked up this box on a fluke -- while purchasing a bunch of stuff from an old collector up in Iowa. It just appealed to me and I had to make an instant decision. I had not followed the "cloud box" threads at all.

Marcus tells me this is for the BSW IAB.

Can you folks tell me what these are worth? Of course, now I have to find a proper badge to go in it.

    My best,

    Mike

          Mike,

A tatty one just sold for a very cheap price of about $60.00, considering the condition of yours and the inclusion of the tissue I'd say at the very least double the above figure.

            Mike,

One used to see alot of these in the 80s. Yours is only the 2nd I have seen (1st was on the e-stand recently) in quite sometime.

Here's mine, complete with IAB (I've some lovely 'hoard' pic's for the book of multiple cloud boxes with IAB's in them wrapped in packing brown paper)

Very nice, Marcus. I believe we used to call these marbled cases at one time.

Probably a better and more apt ''description'' as the cloud pattern looks like some monochrome met. sat. image of perhaps at best stratocumulus........although it does remind of an English summer sky too

I have also seen PAB in the same type of box.

Exactly, I'm not aware of a BSW PAB of course. If the maker was 'local' to BSW then just maybe perhaps ???

Personally I believe these boxes are basically specific to BSW, as I say it could be more than likely that within a localised distribution area another maker or two could have bought these too.

But to date so far we know that BSW distributed these boxes with their wares, namely to date the silver IAB it seems.

So called 'generic' cartons and boxes as has been known in the community I think is a non based assumption - one I used and shared to an extent in the past too.

However, I think I have narrowed down certain makers to specific patterns of cartons and boxes that were used for retail market supplied from the award maker factory.

It is my opinion these boxes/cartons were made locally to the makers that used them and were a response to a 'demand', hence shortage and non production of LDO counterpart be that packet or carton/box.

I can't vouch for them all and there's other possibilities to entertain of course, but you go on what you have.

FLL, Schwerin and the grey cardboard sorts are a different kettle of fish and should not be confused with the above sorts.
