      Hello Harry,

I don’t think that this case is original for the Swords. In my opinion this case is a contemporary Oakleaves case which is adapt for the Swords. You can recognize this very clearly on the bottom of the loose insert. The slot for the ribbon loop was extended for the larger ribbon loop of the Swords and because of that change the rear small cardboard piece of the cardboard frame has broken off. This is also the reason why the insert is loose. Anyhow, the imprint of the Swords in the lid is no proof of the fact that this case is a genuine Sword case.

        Andy,

Were not all the Swords cases 'adapted' cases so to speak. I'm unaware of a sole purpose intended Swords specific intended case.

          Hello Marcus,

My comment referred only to the illustrated case with the loose insert.

One can recognize from the bottom of the loose insert that the slot was unprofessional extended and because of that the rear cardboard piece has broken off. Three of four parts of the cardboard edge around the ribbon slot still exists. The cardboard edge in the bottom is black inside and has the exclusive purpose that one cannot see immediately the beige cardboard from above through the ribbon loop slot.

This change was not done in my opinion anyway by the manufacturer of the case but by an amateur handicraftsman after the war. I know traders and collectors who put Swords in changed original Oakleaves cases for better sale, for safe keeping or for exhibition the rare decoration.

I have prepared a little article about the genuine contemporary Swords case for this forum, but I still need the support to post two photos.
If you are so kindly to post for me two photos, I can post my little article here in the forum for discussion.

Many thanks Marcus. The photos are on the way to you.

I just post a new thread with the title “Case to the Oakleaves with Swords”, where you can add both photos.
