I have two wound badges cased that I think are in the wrong case. Reason, the cases are the same size as EK and the base is stamped 629KB. The boxes are not stamped on the bottom. The black box I think is a late war production as there is no hinge only paper and does not have a catch. The red box looks like the WB has been in there for a while as the outline shows. The red box has a hinge, but is also missing the catch. The cases measure (red: 7cm x 7cm x 1.8cm), (black: 7cm x 7cm x 2.2cm).

No worries on these Jim, both are for Wound badges mate.
629, is generally accepted now to be the 'code' ident. for use with wound badges; found with base coverings of white and the dull cherry red colour.
Where as the base code 621 is apt and found in the cases for KVK, EK and Ostvolker 1st Class. When KB produced/made (bases) that is, the firm of D&B used another code system as a parts system for all parts of the case (top half, bottom half and base).
I'd say confidently that both your cases are paired how they should be
A quick way to identify a 629 from a 621 is by the recess: the WB has two rounded areas top and bottom of the recess the EK has at the top of the slit a more squared off cut-out and rounded bottom one.
