      Hello

Do you have shot of the underside of the black base that the cross sits on please.

      Thanks.

I can't open the underside of the black base.
Is it difficult to see from this pictures the originality of this box?
If it is a fake.. please let me know so I can send the box back to the owner. I bought it several months ago but I never asked opinions.. so therefore this thread. Thanks

I believe this one needs a hand inspection Luc. I believe I got in a similar case that looked ok from the pics but when I got it here it was clearly postwar made.

          Best regards

Luck, I would lean toward original! That said however may we have a look at the hinge (straight on) as well at the catch.

This was the comment of the seller:

<TABLE id=table152 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD align=middle bgColor=#800000>Knight Cross of the Iron Cross case with ribbon </TD></TR><TR><TD align=middle height=20></TD></TR><TR><TD>The exterior of the case has a couple of scuffs and dings but again, nothing major. The interior has a nice outline of the cross that was in it for years. I wanted to b the nice S+L cross that was in it, but the owner would only sell the case. It does show wear but nothing major and should do a good job highlighting your RK! Oh, the ribbon is not full length but still fairly long and looks great in the case. here are some additional pictures:

I've seen the case today in hands, and IMO (but pretty sure) certainly not a pre-45 type case but rather an early '57 one. The white innermatherial and the structure of the black covering is not for a wartime case.

Very interesting Pieter and although I must concede to a 'hands on' vs pictures I'm still a little confused.

I like the size of the hinge and would expect the typical 9 or 9.5 section hinge on a '57 as opposed to the 8 section.

Here is a confirmed '57 case...a littel bigger, flat bottomed, pre '45 (early catch) and the slightly thinner wrapping material. The interior white material doesn't show the 'diamond' like weave but rather a flatter ## type.

The subject case then I assume has the flatter weave and the thinner outer material..?
