I've got a large one mate (no pun intended but packet sounds just as bad !!), I need the 'candy wrapper' type and a Carl Wild maker marked one........I'm desperate for one of those Then there are two others of a variation on a theme.

One Don D had and I have scans of it and another Jim on the forum has too. As far as Ost medals go, I think I have just about covered all the packets........that I'm aware of and can find (to date)

Nearly there on most packets now picture wise........sort of.

You are right; there are original packets that have a left hand seam. This thread is a example of that. The common packets you see every day all have a right hand seam. Packets less encountered can be found with a left hand seam. I can recall having seen left hand seam on any large packet only on small packets...wrong I have a large Ost medaille packet, but that packet is one of a kind.

The moment you think there are no packets with left hand seams, you find one. The moment you think there are no....orange packets you find one,..etc. Not seen it before, doesn't mean it don't exists and doesn't say that it's fake. Because of all the fakes in our hobby we want certain points to focus on, so we don't buy the wrong stuff. We can be very sceptical about a packet or cases we haven't seen before, and that is very good, that's why we have this forum. I can't really give you points to focus on at this time, but left hand seams aren't strange anymore.

                Best regards, Thomas

ps. everybody has his field of expertise, this is mine, but sometimes it's hard to tell someone where to look at.
Thank you very much for the helpful information. I also read a post on a differnt forum where a individual stated that all left hand fold EKII packets were fakes. My wife had bought me a MM 25 EKII with packet from a reputable dealer that said that this EK had been bought from a WW2 german vet. He also gave the name of the vet and location where the vet lived. So I was very doubtful that the packet I had was a fake.

Can we see the packet please.

There is a an excellent fake EK2 packet which does have a left hand fold, they are normally devoid of any maker mark, but sometimes are encountered with false maker stampes on the reverse.
