...3rd Reich medal producers make the EK1 case with a detailed EK1 on the cover/top?

I got to thinking about that while reading the excellent thread with R. Schnitt's KVK. The KVKs have some cases with just a silhouette, but others with the full detail.

Although I haven't looked at them much, I do believe I've seen Imperial EK1 cases with fully detailed lids. Why not TR?

I realize we can probably only speculate, but it's a good question I think.

Well, theres the doube edged variant and thants all I can think of as an elaboration really.

Look at the spange cases, lovely motif's on them for the most part.

The Ostvolk awards also (1st Class), for wartime produced motif adorned cases, just for a couple of examples without going into Mothers Crosses and all insundry etc

A good question and one I can't answer
