    The case is totally genuine and 'period' and in very nice condition as far as I concerned

      Thank you, Marcus! the silver on the cross print on the domed lid is all still present, can you tell what kind of material that is?

          Hi Rainer,


          The silver on such cases would perhaps be a form of a commercial 'silver leaf' (a cheaper version of a silver gilt material if you like) or a spirit based 'metallic texture' paint of sorts.
