    RAD Long Service Awards

Can anyone post any pictures of the RAD Long Service Award cases for the 25 and 18 year awards? Were they hinged cases or two piece boxes?

    Thanks!

Two piece tan cardboard boxes and no hard shell cases that I can think off.

There's the one the size of the 25 Year faithful Service medal comes in, same form all over inside and out but different colours and a more squared form with a partition/or I've seen not also for the ribbon and medal.

Not my thing these really, but I am aware of excellent and mean excellent fakes of these cardboard cases as they do for also the NSDAP medals too.

Not a proper collector of civil stuff I've not really breached into the pros and cons of fake verse good on this sort of thing.

      Thanks Marcus

The addendum to the second edition of Angolia's book on political awards has a black and white picture described as being a blue box for the 25 year men's award. Niemann's second edition has a picture of the women's 18 year award in what is clearly a hinged case. But these are the only pictures of the 18 and 25 boxes/cases I can find. It's even difficult to find a decent picture of the 12 year box.

Do you know where the fakes are coming from and what is it that gives them away as being fake?

      Cheers and Happy Holidays

I never knew that, ta mate thats interesting !!!

What gives these carboard fakes away - not alot, only the very fact a fake seller was selling them as fakes and had 30 plus of them and many more too. Also he had an array of Luft and dozens and dozens of packets.

I'd love to buy all these fakes, but when at 20 - 30 euro a time, they add up ;when at shows I could buy a badge for the price of a few worthless fakes.

There are a couple of fake sellers that will help you and be honest about their wares, others argue certain ones are genuine etc and then they don't speak English so well all of a sudden and they have potential customers around the stall so they get rather peeved and short with you.

I believe the best fakes originate mostly from Germany, some UK 'fakers' not Muller, make the odd packet or case to great effect I must say; but on the whole Germany is origins of these better latter day (& some earlier) fakes.

I've not really ventured into the realms of civil cases and their fakes. They do need to be addressed or I envisage there is going to be alot of fakes taken as genuine in the near future and sold as such and if done so by 'big' named dealers we're buggered to some extent. I had such a problem with a certified DK case which was fake - but it had a name next to it and that was that, 'none so blind' and all that.

I was looking at that case too. Couldn't decide if I liked it or not, so I let it slide...Tom

Difficult !! I can see staples under the outer covering and the insides do look sloppy - I wouldn't like to guess !

Jabnus, lets ahve a look at the case you bought.

Some of these e bay sellers sell a mixture of good and bad. If it was me wanting buy the above pictured case then I'd decline form the purchase of it purely because I'm unsure and if pushed I would say perhaps it was fake yes - but that is a non premise personal opinion on poor pic's in an area I'm not so conversant at all (civil)

Some of the 'trim' does look scruffy for the condition of the case.

I'd like to know if this one is real or not too. Detailed photos would be very helpful. I hope it is a good one, because then we would know what an 18 year case should look like...Tom

                          RAD 1.Stufe Gold

The RAD 25 year medal has a brown hinged box similar to the Polizei 25 box.
