    Two Packets with KVKs

    Hello to all,
I just picked up these two KVKs with packets from a local veteran. They are in nice shape other than the bronze finishes being faded away. Both crosses are zinc, and they have full-length ribbons. They were both still in the original tissue wrap, and inside their paper envelopes. Both envelopes are maker marked to Rudolf Wächtler & Lange. The envelopes are essentially the same, except that the one on the left has thicker, somewhat obscure printing while the one on the right has thinner, but crisper looking letters.
    Best regards,
    Tom

Medal designation on the left envelope. Thicker letters that run together, looking a little blurry.

Medal designation on the right envelope. Thinner letters, but more crisp and easier to read.

The KVKs themselves were made off different dies. Notice the thick swastika on the one on the left.

The one on the right also has the incuse-relief stamp '100' on the suspension ring, so this example is definitely a Rudolf Wächtler piece, and clearly a match to the envelope. The one on the left has no marking on the suspension ring. If the one on the left is an unmarked Wächtler, then it was also made off a completely different die. Given the number of KVKs made, I guess it is possible that a manufacturer would have had more than one die to use. Or maybe this is just an example of a medal being mixed up and put back in the wrong envelope by mistake.

Geat packets mate and with the all important tissue paper !! Love it !

I'll find my W&L I think the designation is totally different out of interest.
