    Another GWB Case for Opinions

    Hi guys,
I'm still trying for a good GWB/Case combination . I've got some photo's of another candidate -Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
The case is a Black case with white lining, but there's no KB number on the back of the insert. As far as I can tell, there's no LDO mark inside or outside of the case.
The badge itself is in the General Awards forum.

    Cheers,

    Neil

      Neil,

Can you post some pictures of the outside of the case?

        Allan,
here's the only pic' I have of the outside of the case. Looks like a late war 'Generic' case to me.

        Cheers,

It's a latter period case and it is for the wound badge ( more so if correct by recess and appropaite cut to the standard of base to award), look at the recess if it were for an EK it would be slightly different: squared at the top, rounded bottom - on a WB base rounded top and bottom. (so overall as collectors and 'case spotters' this would conform to what we know as more aptly for a WB - silver or gold)

When I say latter period we can roughly estimate from awards and cases of past observed (many of....) say in the realm mid war onwards certainly. This type of catch use and the base construction, in our evolution diction terms it's a breed before the non catch sorts and then you have branch off's in around the same period, we think, via lid liners etc and comparing an array of cases with similar traits, so on and so forth. The evolution process of course had transitional periods of unknown production and duration and the profile is the best way we have so far to catagorise for the want really. (still early days yet)

I wouldn't go so far as to call it late war per se and as for generic: well lets looks at it; the base conforms to a WB base, there is no motif or Ldo logo so overall a best fit would be perhaps then be the WB in my opinion.
