Here's a couple of the top in natural lighting without flash. The second scan I tried to get a close-up of the leatherette grain.

Ah yes! The old catchless DK case thread...

I started the other thread due to having a DK case like this one. Pretty much the same deal, no pins, no catch, glued hinge, but I too feel pretty good as to it's being genuine. Really never did get any good examples, data, or similar cases.

              Hello,

here is the interior of the case in this topic.

As we can see, animal glue and typical card board strike on. All these points and lid cardboard covering type , do this case definitely a " war time case " .

Blimey did a little field mouse have diahorrea in that case !! Ivan where have you been keeping this, do you live in a rural area ??

Although no contentions over the case, one must be careful on any case as fakers do mix colours into the glue to age it, to give it this some what poo look !!!

                    Hi dear Marcus,

yes , I agree, but in this case there are no traces of other glue types and is evident material is old. Covering lid cardboard is different from the other post war halbetui cases , this is typical as used for EKI , etc. cases...

Or we say " No halbetui made in war time " or this is sure made with war time material.

In the other DK's cases types ( large early or classic type) there are some different firms that made them, but for halbetui, till today, as I know, only one type( this one ) I believe can be war time. I touched other halbetui cases but I didn't trust as this kind of type. I have in my collection 2 of this cases and both are identical in every part.

Does the base smell though ?

Don't wory I'm not drunk or insane (?) I'm going into English toilet mode humour my friend, I trust your judgement and I to agree on the case.

I'm still not overly conversant on all the forms of DK case, but I would agree the outer covering does look good in addition.
