Box of Issue for Spange zum EKII

I would appreciate comments and opions on this small box.

It is my thinking that this box was for the clasp to the Iron Cross second class. The clasp and box did not come together - I am only showing the spange for size comparison.

        Hi Calvin!
You could be right. I just searched some books and found a picture (unfortunately in black&white) of this box in "Das Eiserne Kreuz" from the german expert on EKs "Harald Geisler". The measurements are 45x45 mm. The box in this book shows also the LDO imprint inside the cap. Sorry, there is no description of the color, but these small cases were often found in red. Hope this helps!

          Hi Calvin,

It's some kind of geneiric little box perhaps - what for is of course narrowed down by the size ? It doesn't look like the numerous fakes abundant out there to my knowledge, but if it's TR or earlier or of post war means and construction I don't honestly know.

The outer covering coverage (folds, coverage of the bottom of the case) doesn't prescribe to the 'norm' of these items (even if devoid of any logo for the Ldo)

I don't off hand recognise the pattern of covering without looking into it. Although it does look simialr in my thinking to a pattern or two.

A nice touch though the felt inside the case, which more than anything makes me think it could be of our desired era or indeed connected to 'awards' or such like, perhaps ? (also the yellow tinge to the inner lid, reminds me of the other pattern boxes on a line to this)

On a limb who knows: it could be pre Ldo indeed and for some item of course not excluding say a Prinzen Spange say, Prague Bar even or even for some elaborate ceramic tinnie (?) hence devoid of logo and the forms of packageing did have differences to some extent on a similar line to latter ones.

Stumped on this one I'm afraid, sorry to be of no better help.

          Kr

          Marcus

            I like it.

I have a similer box, with a spange in it.

However as Marcus said, I believe its a generic box, again similer to the larger ones for eg. the IAB, GAB.
