    EKII packet qustion, help...

    Hi all,

I just bought an EKII with tissue and named packet. The cross is ring-stamped '113' for Herman Aurich, Dresden, but the packet is stamped 'Carl Forfter & Grof, Schwabisch, Gemund.' Was this a packet distributor, or is this cross simply misplaced in the wrong packet? Searching the list of EKII manufacturers in the Crosses forum I found no cross manufacturing firm by that name. So it's back to my first question, was Carl Forfter just a packet distributor, and this set legit? I'd welcome all comments and opinions.

many manufacturers would use the packet of another company. that was a common practice since they would be sold between them. if i recall correctly, confirmation of this information can be found in angolia's for fuhrer and fatherland.

These packets were recently found without any crosses in them and many have been mated up with mostly unmarked crosses to produce a more desirable 'grouping'.

I also personally believe that these packets to be suspect and look forward to further testing being applied to them.

          Hey Robert,

          Take a peek at this:

Personally I have no contention at all with the example you show.

            Marcus,

I applaud you for your efforts in determining the validity of these packets. I look forward to more test results. Fine job.

Was this the cross purchased off Ebay?

Yes, it's absolutely stone mint condition, the best I have ever seen.
