      Hiya Giel,
Thanks, i do not own it. I have come across it on german ebay and just wondered if U-boat clasps wherever issued in anything but the paper packets.
      cheers.

The only cased uboot clasp I saw was packed in a cardboard, and imo this was the way how these very late war awards came in...
          Kind regards,
          Giel

I was talking about the case only, early navy badges did came in a blue luftwaffe style case, they are rare but they did excist and yes the late war badges came in the cardboard boxes and paper packets as you well know

I personally think this case is a old fake, I know of no naval issue award that came in a titled case. I'd put my money on this exact case being UK made as well !!

Similar to Luft, Rene.....uuuumm, only the odd KB and D&B base were used in combination but the cases differ alot really.

Wait for the book and I'll show you what I mean then mate

How did these clasps come awarded ? Good question, I can only guess in a cardboard generic sort of box, perhaps even a wax paper packet or even a paper one perhaps.

I'm aware of seldom genuine packets for Kriegsmarine awards, the odd HSF, U boat and one Deumer marked Minesweeper desigantion type packets.

There are alot of fake packets Ldo and titled for marine awards. It is also true to say there is the odd fake box around devoid of designation that is fake that is used for Luft and Marine awards.....or purported for either or when sold etc

                Um?

The condition of the lining in the lid isn't consistent with the condtion of the base.

I would pass on this one.

Yeah I'm more than confident thats utter crap and bogus into the bargain.......16 bids though,

Some references state these came in designated paper packets and non designated issue oblong blue boxes, I can believe that I've yet to encounter one on the market though.

I see now what is confusing me, the thread title says u-boat clasp and the title on the lid says u-boat kriegsabzeichen, and no i have never seen a u-boatclasp in a luftwaffe style case

                        Bill,
Adrian Forman does not list a case for the u-boat in his "Guide To Third Reich German Awards," p. 112. He list only titled paper packets and cardboard cartons. Here is my Schwerin marked packet I bought out of Germany some time ago.

U boat badges compared to clasp's.

Badges yes, you find them in generic patterns of cardboard boxes (a multitude) and indeed this type of packet. As for clap's I've nothing definitive.

The Schwerin HSF also comes in this style of packet too.

The U boat badge with diamonds came in a presentation case though.
