This came with an EKII that I've posted to the forum. A sharp-eyed member asked that I post to determine if it's fake or the real deal. Any assistance would be appreciated. s/f Robert

Hi Robert,
I'm afraid this a fake, a very good one at that. The paper is most convincing.
This is the most common fake EK packet, it comes in blue and tan. If not to conversant with the many types of EK packet desigantion, one pointer to make you think is that the fold on the reverse is on the left handside, more often than not on originals you'll encounter the fold on the right handside (not all left fold packets are fake of course). Thats just a one small trait as a guide in this instance.
I've had examples of this very one ink and paper determined as there has been much deliberation and fence sitting on these, and they are post war 'materials' by result. I also believe I know where they originated from now too.
You will see dealers sell these and an abundant story, hoards form Austria; French made packets; unused stock of a latter war version packet etc etc etc All nonsense stories and no truth in them at all.

Hi Robert,
Take a beer and sit next to me, so we can mourn together...

Nice to see the fakers are playing with the date, mine is a 'fat' one and maker marked.
But I strongly believe they come from the same source.
Best regards,
Martin
