        Richard,

        Is it blue or black?

If black, looks like a case for an EK11.

If blue, could be a faithful service cross case.

Whatever, although the case looks a bit beat up, well woth £5.00 mate

          Its dark blue.
If it were a faithful service cross, where would the ribbon be stored ??
I have a faithfull service in the long red cardboard box (25 year) why would this box be different ?

Don't forget this was a case used for a private purchase, replacement award.

Not unusual to find no space to store the ribbon, just like the EK11 case.

Haved looked at the Honour cross and these are supposed to be 38mm accross.
Whatever was in this box fitted tightly in the recess and this measures 40mm.

Six of one half a dozen of the other, more frequently encountered with an EK certainly but not incorrect for the Faithful Sevice Cross either. More by luck than judgement I reckon* (*unofunded personal opinion)

Being as the case is one in the same and the dark blue to black outer covering is encountered with attributed EK's to a maker mark on the case I wouldn't seperate the two colours as distinct cases for seperate awards, to fine line and unfounded as some books call these cases black for a start !

If they were such made to differentiate by intention, I'd say they'd perhaps have changed the base colour, not the outer covering in this instance for such a case. Who knows probably an 18 or 25 armed forces and police could have also been bought in these.......I haven't measured them. We may never know many things.

No I seriously think the case is apt for both regardless of slight colour variation.

                  Just my thoughts.

You got this for a fiver, wow, you'd pay more for a fake sold as a fake !!
