Many thanks to Bob Coleman for allowing me to share this superb example of a special Honour Cross presentation folder/case.
This case as told to me by Bob, came out of the estate of Emil Maurice, Partei #38, SS #2 and member of the Stosstruppe and friend of AH. Likely also the only SS member who was Jewish The urkunde reads to "Ratsherrn Emil Maurice in Munchen." It is dated 20 August, 1934 and signed by the Police President of Munchen.
What is interesting other than the historical aspect, which really is very interesting, is the form and construction of this case and the very fact we know now that indeed they did make special presentation sets (specifically for this medal) based on such a premise of an example. I'd like to guess that this isn't a one off.
(if any other collectors know of such like or other Honour Cross forms of case please contact me)
We've often discussed did they make special presentations of this award, as indeed the medal wasn't issued in a case form and rather more just a plain packet.
I do think, higher ranking officers, goverment officials and dignatories perhaps had theirs bestowed on them in the cases of some form or indeed perhaps some other form elaborate or not, folder or other.
I would speculate more often than just the earlier form of the red case perhaps.
Anyway more to the point enjoy these pic's
