    EK1 case - Black / White Base

    Quick question....

Was there any particular reason for some EK1 boxes having white bases for the cross to sit on and others having black bases?

    Regards

    Andy

      Hi Andy,

A few suggestions have been made, but no proven explanation as yet.

Ok thanks for the response Allan

My own idea is that maybe the black bases were posthumously awarded crosses?????

The only maker that I constantly encounter with a black base is "6" for Fritz Zimmermann.
Must have seen about a dozen of these cased over the years and they were always black. My example with outer carton also has a black base.

I'm with Skip, the most commonly encountered case with a black base that I have seen usually has a 6 mm EK1 in it.A few LDO jobs have a black base, like this L/18 marked case with an L/18 EK1.

You've also the screwback case for the EK which is in basically always black with the odd white base one......the white one having a different code number and smaller recess !!!
