Its not unheard of, but interesting, would you think they were maybe a subcontractor? Something else? Whats you view on that?

Indeed a very interesting fact which can be explained by many facts.
Maedicke can indeed be found on only the RzM lists but there are still a number of unknown manufacturers on the PkZ lists.
Was Maedicke maybe one of these (still) unknown manufacturers? Or was Maedicke maybe indeed hired as a sub-contractor?
But IMO most relevant is, are these shields really made by Maedicke? The only Maedicke connection we have are only the KM buttons with the “M” logo found in a box with the name Maedicke. The box shows no logo only the name J.C. Maedicke, Berlin.
I have done intensive research about Maedicke. I’ve found a couple of logo’s for Maedicke but not the one as found on the shields and the buttons. Are these shields and buttons really made by Maedicke? Possible but there not 100% proof. That is why I always try to mention that these shields are attributed to Maedicke but there is not 100% proof.

Most relevant fact now , is that there are Maedicke attributed shields that are clearly and unquestionably cast fakes , as shown by the OP and the moderator examples . Are all the side tabbed Maedicke shields fake ? Well , we see two fakes in this thread .... Sveimhugli and Pascal shields .

A fact that I cannot conclude from this discussion.

I agree here, I have seen two adverts for Maedicke, the Logo is very similar, but if I remember right, not to excactly the same.

Same goes for other awards, just that is says Josef Feix or something on the pouch for a award does not mean the award indeed was made by them.
Regarding to that issue, there are so many things we will never know, and maybe just as good

I dont think I have the time or interest to post more info on this thread.
There is no need to, there is enough in the thread for ppl to make up their own minds.

                      Gentlemen
I’m not sure if Pascal when talking about the head not being formed properly because of not enough material in the die,
Well that wing tip of concern I think has that shape because the obverse die was not filled out properly either from the reverse die maybe due to design including side tabs?
                      But that’s your answer

                      Kind regards Chay
