Uniform removed DEMJANSK shield

Picked up a big vet lot today, with everything the way that the vet left it., 73 years ago.
Looks like he tore some awards off of prisoners; others , he took more time.
This appears to be a shield that was sewn, without the backing, directly to a soldat's tunic.

Shields that were attached to the tunic without the backing are not as unusual as expected. I´ve seen quite a few and recently bought a Leutnants tunic that has the Demjansk shield attached this way (period done). I´ll post pictures as soon as the tunic arrives.

i like it a lot ,as for me its much better as any minty one ,ofcourse value differ ,but thats my personal taste

Maybe it simply looked better? For practical reasons? Minimize the chance for the shield to detach?

Very nice.
Different number of holes and attachment method but I guess that would be up to the individual soldat and as long as there was no particular regulation covering the attachment method, I would guess that we would see a series of different ways to do it!!
(I do believe though that the oxygen supply to that eagle is getting cut off!!)
