Not one I' ve ever seen before. The coat of arms on this shield is of the city of Amsterdam.

No problem.
Referring to the (large) size, I don't think it is a badge at all but rather a plaque like the other LW (for ex. FJ or Technician) either in a case or maybe mounted on marble or nice piece of wood.

I agree with you. And to refer to it as badge or shield may give the wrong impression.
