IMO it is a postwar cufftitle. Base fabric and stitching are both red flags for me.
These "private made" Kurland CTs are always dangerous, but we must consider original only what is really proven to be original.

            My books:

            - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
            - THE SS TK RING
            - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
            - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
            - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

            and more!

I,m curious what makes you think the fabric and stitching are wrong
I agree there are 2 version accepted (local,German made) but then the rest...
For example all the other types on

              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/camp...ons_repros.htm
I know its stated they are probaly original so basicly if not straight from the vet or without wartime photos they are not.. but like you said you need solid prove.

I,m not defending this piece regarding original/fake just for the information

              For what its worth:
1.There is a dealer who is also member here selling the same type as original.
His statement is he bought it from the vets son(the veteran was in the occupation force germany)And he saw one more on a luftwaffe uniform in the past
So with mine there are 3 of this cufftitles.
2.There are 2 collectors thinking its a veterans association piece mainly because of the lenght.
3.there is a look-a-like cufftitle for sale as a fake with some similair charactics.
But than it makes a copy of a copy? see image

              Thank you.

I answer to all your questions.

First: both the CTs you posted are fakes. And you already know it.
Second: all the full lenght Kurland CTs should be viewed with suspicion, because the 99,9% are post war reproduction.

Third: yesterday I've checked my files, because I can't keep in mind everything, and I can confirm now the first posted in this thread is a fake, sold since 1999 and published in the catalog of a firm that sold only reproductions.
Anyway the way the stitching is made is typical of modern sewing machines and it is always a sufficient sign to understand that the cufftitle in question is a fake.

I'll do everything on the book about all the campaign cufftitles I'm working on.
One of those advertisin is also published in Sascha Ulderup's booklet "Identification book for cufftitles" volume I (pag. 46).
Anyway all the fake full lenght usually are made with border stitchings in the same way, never seen (to my knowledge) in one original wartime piece.

If someone is happy of a cufftitle without evidences, without solid proofs and highly faked, then it is not my cup of tea.
I would never want a piece that can be made yesterday or 20 years ago.

Perhaps in time the truth will reveal itself.
Good luck with your new book.
