    Cased Narvik shield??

    Hi.

I was browsing the internet and came over a cased Narvik shield.
I'm not an expert on shields, but this one seems like a good type 6 shield. If it is a original shield, what about the case? I have never seen something like this before. Could it be a case from a private jeweler?

There wore only 4 pictures of this set.

    Best regards,
    André

        Hi André,

        I have the same opinion.

Strange thing. The price is less then a what a Narvik shield goes for so I don't think that this is a fake case that has been added to raise the value.
I searched for it again and found another picture of the case.

I have never seen a box for a Narvik before but I actually like the look of it...but I am still not sure about it. I have actually never seen a box for any shield.

Nice original Narvik shield though...buy it and keep the box too...I think its a cool pairing.

            Regards,
            Chris G.

              Hi André

this case is new to me, could you please check with UV light, to see if it is positive with blue light reflection?

I reservidly share Chris' sentiments regarding this carton; I've never seen the likes before and therefore I can't just dismiss it, as I don't know. Perhaps it's the wine I'm drinking!

However, I'd like to see the award sitting in this carton and the underside of the carton, too.

                Kind regards,

                Marcus

I'm trying to phantom a non-Marine version. "Heer & Luftwaffe" in silver letters on white (almost invisible)

                  cheers

Sadly, this is not mine. I found it on the internet while browsing through some KM items and found this for sale on a auction site (not militaria321). The auction ended a coupple of months ago with no bidders and the owner's account is not active anymore, so I could not get in contact with him. I think the price was EUR 250,- for the set so it's not something added to gain a higher price. Hopefully this shield and the case will get listed once again somewhere, and I will for sure try to locate it again and buy it

                    Regards,
                    André

                      Hi Peter,

IF, it was genuine, and then even devoid of the knowledge regarding to the intention and purposes for such an odd carton, I would perhaps consider the Heer/Luft examples to be in a carton without an arms description, maybe?

That is, similar to the packets that declare with ''swords'' but don't when without, or those that announce the award is in ''silber'' and are blank for the bronze.

Also, they could even have a had different outer covering for the Heer/Luft cartons.

All total and utter conjecture and just throwing a couple of spurious ideas into the pot of course, and just thinking out aloud; even with a self-induced headache

                      Best,

                      Marcus

                        Hi Marcus,

As always you present relevant options and they crossed my mind as well, I just didn't want to build up a scenario for authenticating a piece no one ever saw. It might be a good piece, but I still think the combination of colours is a bit odd. Both silver and gold on white are difficult to visualize, especially should you have a colour sight defect. A case similar to the one of the Luftschutz-Ehrenzeichen 2.class seems IMHO more plausible.

A "le tete bom-bom" is a bummer, try drinking a lot of water

                        cheers
                        Peter
