Krim Shield on Original Uniform Piece - Manufacturer?

Good morning all,

I plan on listing this shield for sale on the forum. I think it's a good one but I'm a bit concerned that the back has a good amount of rust but the front is very clean. Is this due to different metal content? Also, is there a way to tell who manufactured this particular shield?

I believe this is a good one.
The backplate, (if magnetic) is made of carbon steel and has no coating which will allow it to rust quickly. The shield is likely made of zinc or tombak and has a coating which will resist rust.

Ralph - I just put a magnet to the reverse and it is magnetic. I appreciate the help and can now list the shield for sale with confidence.
