    Unique Narvik shield

    Guys

I was pretty gobsmacked when this piece arrived as part of an old collection. It is a zinc KM Narvik which I have never seen and believe is as yet unrecorded.
The prong configuration and design is absolutely unique and condition is typical for a late war zinc shield.

Has anyone seen one of these before?!

                Gents,

Sorry to say i must disagree, front looks OK to me.
Such patina, golding can't be faked an dated.
Now talking about the back, prongs, these can be discussed.
Just my 2 cent, not an expert, just my feeling.

Having this shield in hand, I am convinced this is wartime made just a variant we haven't seen before. Can you show me another one if you are convinced it is fake?

Patrick, I've never seen a shield like your before, nor among originals, nor among fakes. From what I see overall construction let me think about a cast or die cast piece. Not sure it is die struck, there are a lot of surplus die flaws.

IMO each of us can have his opinion about. The problem with a piece like this is always the same: until we prove it is a wartime piece with a safe source for example, we can't agree it is pre '45.

                      Hi Patrick......

......I'm with K72 about this shield. I believe it was not made during the 3rd reich era. What stands out to me in particular are the flukes(tips) of the anchor. I have never seen them looking like that on wartime examples. I will admit, though, that I may not have seen everything, but I do not think this shield is correct for WWII.
