Dies/ molds for the top piece of a man's ring!

    Hi

Im new here and did not know exactly where to post this, but i hope im in the right forum.

what i do have is Original dies/molds for making the top piece of a mans ring, so im told by the man who advised me about this page.

i have the pics of the 6 pieces i do have, and i will be willing to email pics to those that might be interested in these tools. These dies was found in a goldsmiths shop in the mid eighties here in Oslo, Norway and is probably the only ones in existence.

one of the pieces do have a vikingship on it with the year 1940, and text NORGE, there is also two swasticas on it.

there is one with a eagle holding the swastica with the text NORGE on top!

there is a double die with a eagle conected to a sircle with the swastica inside it and the text NORGE on top

and a eagle holding SS with the text NORGE under it.

and i do have two different size with a Polar bear on it with the text KIRKENES on top and two swasticas under it, one on each side of the number 1942.

these are for sale and willing to sell to a serious collector that don't intend to missuse them, these are valued after what it would cost to make something similar today in Norway and just a bit over that due to the rarity of these items!

    Regards,

    Kaare

Since this is the first dye I have seen, I have nothing to contribute except I hope to see what develops with this and it's take from other more experienced members.

Can you share the size of the die posted in mm (or imperial but I would assume you use metric) please. Or PM the info if you don't feel comfortable posting such info.

Like Wolf, I am very interested in these. Thanks for posting the picture. I love me some rings

            hi,

            sorry for the late reply.

            I'll do it in metric.

The one with the vikingship is 14.3mm x 17mm

The one with the eagle holding swastica is 14.5mm x 13.mm

the double dye is both 14.3mm x 13.43mm

the two different size Kirkenes dies are: 18.3mm x 18.3mm
            14.3mm x 17mm

            Thanks,

            Kaare

Extremely interesting find, and you may want to have a look at this thread, a bunch of dies for German badges were also recently sold: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=fakers

                  Thanks Jean-Loup,

that tread was kind of messy, due to that i could not see the pics and i figured it was kind of hard to follow what they were talking about in some way.

i'm not sure if they actually was saying that the dies was fake or if someone might have made something out of the dies and they ofcourse are fake.

please fill me in on the info if you can

                  Kaare

Quite a few photos have disapeared temporarily because the forum has changed server, but when I clicked right now, the photos were visible.
I do not know anything more about the dies then what is written in that thread, and dont know about their authenticity, but they apparently sold for over 8000 euros, so this information could be of interest to you.
Try clicking on the link again, the photos should be visible to you now.

Let me try this. It is easy to see why they went for so much. Some pretty valuable dies here

it makes me wonder, what does a dye popular and valuable?

i know that in some enviroments the stuff that has something to do with Norway is valuable, but im not sure why though, someone please inlighten me

                        Thanks,

                        Kaare

Sorry buddy, I got sidetracked on a Krim shield

I'm not 100% sure what makes a popular die. The ones of medals I can see why they are valuable. There are ALOT of metal collectors out there. Ring dies, I'm not sure. I know there are a few ring collectors out there that would be interested.

And yes, you are right. There are a lot of collectors that focus on one area (too expensive to collect it all!!). So you will have the SS collectors, Norge collectors, Russian collectors, etc. It is really hard to put a value on something so unique. Imight just auction them? When you don't have similar comparisons, it is tough!!!

as i understands it, there is only one of the dies i got that's well known, and that is the KIRKENES one.

good thing is that im in no hurry to sell, but in a other way, it's better that these goe to a true collector than me havin' them boxed away. When i look at the other dies they seem very well used, and ofcourse more well known, would be fun if someone in here actually could show me a piece with the vikingship on it.
