    Lorient and Dunkirk shields

    Hi Guys

Just got these 2 in as part of a lot and am hoping I'm on to a couple of winners here. From the research I've done it would seem that both of these match what are purported to be original strikes.
The Lorient is sheet brass and matches the one in Niemann's book whilst the Lorient is similar material and interestingly is the exact same shield posted by Robin Lumsden in 2004- whether he owned it or not no idea

Let me know what you think

    Thanks

    Patrick

      Hello Patrick

No problem on these two shields.

Note that the Lorient is rare but the Dunkirk is much more rare !!!

      Best regards

Thanks Eric! I was pretty sure they were decent when i got them in hand, they came in a lot of 7 shields which were sold as fakes!

            .......

Can't comment on the Lorient but the Duenkirchen Schild's original and as rare as it gets.

            Here's my example..

Hi Peter, thanks for posting your super shield, great character to it. I agree about the extreme rarity of these, I don't recall ever having seen one for sale and I think there has only been 3 or so posted on WAF in the past one of which is the same shield I now own by R Lumsden- how it ended up in an $80 lot of 'fake' shields I guess we'll never know! Glad I pulled the trigger on that one!

                HI,
                great looking shields!

Excuse me if I'm being ignorant but were these shields ever issued?

                Even in small numbers?

                Cheers

                  Hello Jay

The Dunkirchen shield was given in early 45 for the members who were at the "kampfschule" in dunkirchen.

Those member formed small unit to fight agains the allied around the pocket of Dunkirchen.

The lorient shield was awarded for members who fought in the Lorient pocket.

                  Best regards

                  Eric

This thread should be used from all the collectors, because all the shields showed here are really stunning and original pieces.

Even your shield Jyn is amazing, and the soldbuch entry is probably the only one I know. In '57 this shield was not registrated in the official list of the TR awards (it was recognized only as "unit shield").

IMO it remains one of the most rare and desirable shields with the Lorient one.

When I compare this shields with the anothers (Krim,Kuban, Demjansk Cholm)
I can tell, these not the proven quality from the german makers.
Where can be found information from these. (III Reich cancellary rules about the use, etc)?

                          Hi,

To complete the story, the supposed certificate to go with. This document signed by the Hptmn. Türke, the commander of the Combat School in the Dunkirk pocket.

Made and worn only in the Festüng.

Jyn you are one the few in the world that own this doc. Congrats for what you show here.
I know there are 3 different patterns of this doc (a lot if we think how few shields were awarded!), but I never handled one.

Enjoy this stunning set, and when you want to sell it, contact me!

                              Antonio,

First, my father was belonging to a french battle group which participated at the surrounding of the German troops in the pocket.
The shield I have was belonging to one of his mate. He also grab a shield after the 8 May 1945 but this one is probably lost forever. So yo could understand that I have sentimental reasons to keep it.

Concerning my actual studies, I am more concerned to identify the certificate to go with.

                              Is it the
                              - Kampfschulabzeichen
                              - Stosstruppabzeichen
                              - Haupkampflinie HKL Abzeichen

                              JYN
