    crimea shield

    guys
There were several variations on the back plate attachment method, with the most popular being four prongs on the back, two on the top and two directly below them
but i didn't find a picture where you can see the other attachment methods
i bought a criema shield with a different attachement (two on each side) so i need some pictures to compare them with my shield
i will post reverse pic's from the shield asap when my camera is fixed
    thanks in advance

        Krim shield

        Hello Glenn,

I have no problem with your shield and the pin attachements, it is a nice one and i give it a thumbs up ( i think that ( original or not ? ) is what you want to hear isn't it ? ) .

Both systems for the prongs are known towards me , the prongs Glenn is showing are also oftend found on the Kubanschield.

        Greetings,

ps : as Francois would name it => study before you buy

          thanks for the info Stijn
i know this krim shield is original but i didn't saw this type of attachment before, thats why i ask for reverse pic's with this kind of attachments
you're right about study before you buy (i did some homework before i bought this item but i found the reverse a little bit odd because i didn't saw one before while studying this subject)
          thanks stijn

something seemed odd to me about this, and after studying it, and comparing it, it finally dawned on me what it is.

Although the backing plates on both the Krim and Kuban shields are larger than the shield itself, in both types, edge tabs and center mounted, the tabs should be pushed through the cloth then bent over in the respective notches.

Cicero, on yours the tabs are wrapped around the edge of the cloth, which leaves it visable from the front. I am wondering if this plate was added later, or it came apart and someone put it back together wrong. You should not be able to see the bent tabs from the front.

thanks for your info and the good observation M.Schroeder
i believe someone did not a very good job with adding the shield on the backplate, maybe because there wasn't enough cloth to work with so in this case you couldn't push the tabs trough the cloth
in my opinion this was done by another collector because i can't imagine that this was done in a pre-war period
so any speculations or opinions are still welcome
              thanks
