I think that this is a good JFS Krim shield. I would however like to see a close up of the eagles head as I think something happend to it. The backing paper looks to be replaces as well.

      Just my opinion.

Pascal, why do you think that there is something wrong with the eaglehead ? and the backing paper, i'm thinking of buying this shield but only if it is a good one.

          Greetings. Den

Den and Croatia, please read my post again. I never said there was something wrong with the eagles head. After seeing the first picture I merely asked for a closeup as I thought something happened to the eagles head.

Now that I have seen the closeup of the eagles head I think it is good but very worn.

I will post an excellent example of a JFS shield from Tim Ball (hope he doesn’t mind) so you can see the difference.

As for the backing paper I still think it has been replaced at one point or another as I have never seen this kind of backing paper on a JFS Krim shield before.

This is the usual backing on a JFS Krim shield.

Could the backing paper be a wartime replacement ? it looks very worn.

I don’t know. The question you have to ask yourself is, why should anyone want to replace the backing paper during the war?

cloth and paper are tested with UV light and both are OK.
