        Dear Mark,

I am sorry but I don't really like the last Krim shield you posted.
To me it looks a lot like this well known fake.
Also the aging on your looks to be artificial.

          Hello Pascal,
What? For free? I have never considered myself a greedy person, except when it comes to German Militaria, in which case I am a greedy, hoarding fiend.
          Best regards! Tom Yanacek
P.S. I'm starting to feel guilty now, so I guess I will send one to Philippe. He is the certain collector in Belgium that you are referring to, yes?

              Hello Mark,

I don't like the look of that second Krim Shield that you posted. For one thing it looks too flat. Also, it looks like the shield is made of brass, and as Pascal said, it looks like it was aged artificially. Could you post a picture of the reverse, and also check it with a magnet? I am not saying that Krim Shields must be magnetic to be real, but they should be made of either steel or zinc and not brass.
              Best regards! Tom Yanacek

Pascal is right, Mauser´s shield is a well known fake. It is exactly the same as Pascal shows as another example of this fake. Save these pictures for reference. Whenever you see one of these, it is always a fake, aged in different ways. There is NO ORIGINAL of this type Krim shield. So if you store some details like the claws and the eagle´s head in your memory, it will always be quite easy to recognize this known fake.
                Cheers, Frank

                  Hi guys

Thanks for letting me know, this is a bit of a blow but at the end of the day another lesson learned the hard way, I brought this Krim shield from a well know aution house here in england along with that fake L/14 wound badge when i first started collecting about 3 years ago. I must admit at the time in comparson to the cruder fakes i though they were the real deal. The days be-fore i became a member here on the forum

Thanks for the information and help Frank,Pascal & Tom its much appricated, guess this one for my Re-pro M43 Tunic

P.s The Krim sheild in this link which has been show as orignal is a fake, excatly the same characteristics as mine would you agree ?

Hi shield friends just a little question here,

Altough the 3 shields Tom posted all share the distinctive M mentioned by Pascal, am I wrong in thinking that Tom's second shield has a completely different eagles head compared to all the others of that type posted in this thread?

@Pascal I presume you were refering to me but no I didn't receive a PM

                        Hello Philippe,
You have a good eye, and I see exactly what you are referring to. I think what you are seeing though is due primarily to the photo, and also due to a spot of wear on the forward part of the eagle's head. All the same detail is there and the overall shape of the head is the same, it's just not apparent in the photo. The forward part of the eagle's mouth, and the line above the eye, forward and aft of the eye, look a little less distinct but it is there. All three of the Krim Shields that I posted, look to be from the same manufacturer and made off the same exact die.
                        Best regards! Tom Yanacek

Tom personnaly brought it over yesterday morning. It really is a luxury to own your own privat Jet and luckely I live close to the airport so he didn't have to pay to much for the taxi.
