Kreta and Afrika campaign cufftitles for review - please some second opinions. THANKS

    Hi Guys,

I have acquired these two campaign cufftitles (Kreta and Afrika). I would welcome some second opinions on these. IMO these are good but would like to get some confirmation. Thanks for helping me out!

    Cheers, Willem

Afrika cuff is a solid original. Can't comment on the Krete one. Matt

                  Willem,

I agree with the other's comments, both look to be nice original examples.

The KRETA is of the pattern that was issued, and if I may say, a textbook example. The stitching, pattern, material, reverse threading, all look correct.

                  Congrats!
                  Tim

Hi Guys, thanks for responding to my query. Thanks also for all your possitive comments.

Now just to find a nice original Kurland one and I will be very happy with my campaign collection consisting of cufftitles (I am not really interested in the Metz cufftitle, too few recipients and I like my stuff to be representative not so much niche), shields (Narvik, Demjansk, Krim and Kuban - Cholm I do not have; that one is just too expensive for my taste and had very few awardees - not very representative) and medalbars (consisting of bars with the campaign medals for (Austria, Sudetenland/Czechoslovakia/Schutzwall (if we can call that a campaign?) and Russia 41/42 on it. The only two things missing still in the medal bar department are medal bars with the Spanish Civil War campaign and the Ital-German medal on it. Memelland I also do not have but as it was such a small campaign and therefore once again not so representative therefore I can do without.

It is interesting to see just how many of the German WWII decorations are actually campaign ones: 5 shields (not counting the unofficial ones), 6 medals (Aust, Sudet, Prag, Memel, Schutzwall, Russia) and 4 cufftitles (Kreta, Afrika, Metz, Kurland). 15 in all!

Always good to have a goal. I am missing a Kurland cuff as well, however, I don't think I have enough room in my collection to add it.
Don't be to quick to scoff at potentially continuing and acquiring some nice shields. it does add for an impressive display.

Best regards and congratulations on two fine pieces,
                            JustinG
