    Deschler...

I have a question. I don't have a problem with the badge, but the issued examples, even to the common soldier would have been made of a higher quality base metal. Norway fell in '40, so why/when were zinc pieces issued? I'm curious.

Isn't it because they kept the best metal for making

      guns at that time ??

Could be transitional, meaning they used both higher quality and zinc? I'm just curious if anyone knew for sure... Doesn't matter.

Replacement shields were sold during the whole war. So during the last years the LDO Narvik shields which could be bought in the shops were likely to be made from zinc.

Ps. There is never been any evidence that this type of shield was made by Deschler.
