What do you think of this tunic removed Cholm shield. I've never seen one in the flesh before so your comments will be a great learning experience for me. Looks like Heer backing on a much higher quality cloth. Shabby sewing though.

Thanks gentlemen, Now you point it out it is obvious. This is such a fantastic learning for me.

Another example of the UK overflowing with vet bringbacks that turnout to be fakes bought in a bar in the in the 60s.

Another point of learning.

Does the Heer material look wrong - too coarse perhaps. Also to me the amount of material the shield is mounted on looks to be too much.

The sleeve appears to be much finer material. Could it be from an officers or parade tunic? So the next question for me is did the shields come mounted on different grades of backing material? One for parade and one for battle dress.
