Fake Demjansk on the E-stand???

I found this on the e-stand and to me it looks like an obvious fake being passed as orginal. Options...

That's why I left it open to the forum. I don't want to taint an orginal piece as being fake nor do I want a new collector getting the run around. Also on a side note I would like to know because I have one that I used for a set filler until I could get a real Demjansk.

The use of zinc? Not the alloy of choice for the faker. Or is it used sometimes?
I have looked at many repo's that were non ferrous but never of zinc. John

In most cases, yes. But why is the badge flat when all others Demjansks are convexed? The siver wash in also not typical for the washing used on other badges, i.e. Cholm or Narvik? The only answer I can think of for the material and the double striking is during the Cold War, East Germany had obtained the original shield dies. The DDR made a series of fake Zinc badges, in order to bring money into the Duetsche Communistsche Partei. I wonder if this is an example of those shields. The backing and cloth are DEFINITELY post-war.

Very good... In that light I think they would have been stamped convexed.
The edge would crinkle if it was rolled later??
My Kuban is flat, my Krim is convexed. Are there other's of the same shield that come flat and convexed?
Such sticklers to uniformity as they were,
I would think there would be a footnote in the design which would have to be followed.
Your's is the only other flat one that I've seen. John
