I found some pics Bernd Hartmann's book, what's name is: Das Kriegsauszeichenung des Deutsches Heeres 1939-45

My opinion is that your Demjansk Shield is same with this one, what you can see in Bernd Hartmann's book, well if I see it. I show you this page for this book.......

I respect your opinion but if this is fake,Jamie Cross is sell fakes, because this item buyed from his homepage.(few years ago)
Now you can see two shield in Jamie's that the follow:http://www.thirdreichmedals.com/
In this homepage:Left side,black menu-what news-arm shields,arm badges and cuff bands-here is the fourth and seventh like mine shield.
Can you show me photo on "sherif J"?
Yes I show more photo on this shileld, when I arrived home.

Jamie Cross not only sells fake zinc Demjansk shields, he also writes novels explaining why everyone else is stupid not to believe in them and how much disservice forums like this one do to the militaria collecting.
If you dare to try to return it to him you will fall into the above category as far as he is concerned.

I understand your problem.
1. You got fake and now you want to know why it is considered a fake. You will find a lot of useful information on this type if you run search function for " serif J Demjansk"

2. Good idea, but avoid any arguments with the dealer about the shields authenticity. Just come up with another reason.
3. I did not say you said that. In fact he sells nice originals too.
