Luftwaffe AFRIKA Cufftitle - Good?

I have been selling off a small collection of German WW2 items for a collector who has lost interest in this period of militaria. He has a Luftwaffe AFRIKA cufftitle he got from Angolia that is pictured in his book Uniforms & Traditions of the Luftwaffe, Vol. 2, page 293. This is the actual one pictured on this page.

I have never seen another one like this. Is this original?

Hi Tom,
I must admit , I have never seen one like yours in the past but will post pictures from one I have in my collection and is the one you find in wear on uniforms.

Yes Sasha, yours is the normal Luftwaffe AFRIKA cufftitle that we all expect to see. This one is made like the tan AFRIKA award cufftitle, only in blue. Since the Luftwaffe were routinely awarded the tan version like the Army, why would they need one in a blue color?

Hi Tom,
As you probably know they are only 1 official version for AFRIKA cuff title and 1 for AFRIKAKORPS. Everything else is unofficial like Kriegsmarine one or Luftwaffe and few others that I have seen. In case of your cuff title attempt was made to copy official AFRIKA cufftitle ( same for all three branches of Wehrmacht ) to blue cotton backing. Question to ask is why would someone request something like this if you already had unofficial Luftwaffe cuff title out there , 2 reasons come to my mind first is that this is custom made and second that this is atempt on fakers to place new verion on unofficail Luftwaffe cuff title on market. It would be nice to hear from other members as well.

There was also an unofficial blue Luftwaffe cufftitle with "Afrika" in Gothic script that I have seen in period photos. Pilot Hans-Joachim Marseille had one in this Gothic script and it is on display in a German museum. I have never seen one like the first cuff title shown in this thread with palm trees and I would be hesitant to own it.
