    shield

one thing that leans positive for mine and brians , is that no one seem to have seen many if any of these types.

that would lead me to lean tward the idea that if they are fakes they would have been masproduced for sale.

also brians looks like it has zink rust and mine is definatly steel.
so my question here is why would a faker start makeing an item in one metal and than swith, and thair seem to be so few of this type?
if someone investes in the equipment to fake something, they would have to produce quite a few of them to just recoupe thair money back.

the quality of mine is very high with the sharpness being very crisp in detail minus the viens in the oak leaves. which if this was faked from another shield than why the missing oak leave veins and none of the other detail is missing?

mine came from sterling gambino from a [salesmans sample board]
I bought several items from this board, a ccc in bronze and it is an exact match to tuckers book for a A.G.M.u.K so at this point there seems to be nothing to lead to it being a fake excpt that no one has one that can be proven to be original i.e. vet picup ect.

Just tagging this on to an existing thread rather than start a new one.

It has often been suggested that the shorter "tail" to the numeral 9 on Narviks is indicative of a fake, also the orientation of the centre stamens on the Edelweiss might be a factor.

This illustration is from an original wartime book. Note the stubby tail to the 9 and the slight rotation of the stamens (on the early Juncker design the tail on the 9 is long and centre line of the shield runs right down the dividing line between two stamens)

On this second, reputedly Deschler desgin, the stubby tail is correct, as is the slight rotation off centre of the dividing line between the stamens.

Two more supposed clues to a fake bite the dust !

                  Hi Craig,

I looked at your shield again in detail and it is one of the good made fakes. At the end of this thread I will post more of these for you. Sorry.

                  Cheers, Frank

                                Here's two good ones!

                                Jan Arne,

Very nice shield! I like the hint of copper coming through.

Here's two of mine, still waiting on the kriegsmarine version.
