    Hello all, I would like to show you this Narvik, sadly but I had to say I think it's a fake, if so in my mind we are in big trouble

                This Narvik show's the classic bubbling associated with the silver wash over Zinc.

                I guess the back of the shield has just discoloured over time. It's a great shield, why do you think it's suspect ?

                  One of the reasons why he might be concerned is that for a shield that retained most of it’s silver finish on the abverse, there is not a trace of it on the reverse. Instead what you see is hardly resembeling zink.

                    Believe me Arsn, your shield is 100% original.
                    I am not a metal expert but I am sure that your shield, just like mine is made from zinc.
                    The reason for not finding any trace of silver on the reverse could well be that the shield was never coated with a silver finish on the back.

                    Here you can see what effect aging can have on such a shield.

                    This is the same type of shield from my collection.
