    Demjansk Shield Concerns

The shield depicted below was acquired a number of years ago, long before I knew there was a WAF...it served as a placeholder while I "hoped" it was original. Now I have my doubts. If it is not authentic, I will place in in the bazaar table of the estand. I appreciate any and all comments. Several pictures to follow.

    Thank you and great collecting!

          Hi William,
You're right. This is not an original shield.
You often find these shield with 2 long prongs on the back which are folded to create 4 prongs.

          Here is my example.

What points it out as fake?

Several details are pointing out that this is not an original shield.
I would say the most important one is the material this shield was made of.

According to WA silver washed zinc was the material used.

Hi Torsten....all original Demjansk shields were Steel (magnetic) , the exception being a rare Zinc type.
