    cholm shield award document

    Hello Dion,

They are not all numbered on the reverse, so are for example "second issue's" knonw without number. There are other original examples known without number => why? nobody knows.

But 99 % have numbers etc ... and the non numbered examples are the exception. Anyone who does have my book "Verleihungsurkunden zum CHolmschild .... " should know this , see also: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=cholmshield

A picture could tell more then a few words, but i have to say towards you => hand inspection is the best way (can do it when wanted). And mind you, it is real and dangerous minefield !!

    Cordial greetings,

        cholm award doc

        Hi Dion,

No problem, but one has to always e carefull => a original Cholmaward doc. is to be considered very rare (yes rarer then a KC award document - as less awarded).

So a exception towards a rule is even more rare, they do exist but a warned person is worth 2.

Iff you want you can always send me backgroundinfo, etc ... + i will happily help you out.

        Cordial greetings,

Just in a general knowledge of documents way, that looks good to me. I'm sure others can say for sure or not.

Gene, read post number 2. Could you tell me how details on yours measure up to this one?

Iam starting to believe no number is a good sign, due to fakers probably numbering all the fakes. Just trying to convince myself to take the risk

                          CHolm award document

                          Hello,

My booklet as shown does point out how to advance such documents, what to look for etc ....

Anyway, for us it is at this point impossible to identify if this document is original or not from a scan. Paper is easy faked etc ... As i have written towards Dion i do offer him a personal inspection in wich it will be possible to say iff it is a good one or not.

Caution is needed as we are talking about very rare documents + this one does belong towards the non numbered examples (wich do exist but are even more hard to find).

Therefore, iff you make it possible that i can inspect this document in person you will have the answer good or bad right away. Untill then i leave it up towards you to deliberate iff it is good or not.

                          Cordial greetings,

Stijn is of course the man for Cholm stuff but purely from a general document collectors point of view it looks good from the scans. The toning of the ink on the sig, the sig itself is a good match for a Scherer sig i have on another doc. The paper, it's toning, ageing etc. all give me the warm fuzzies of a genuine doc. But let Stijn's in hand inspection be the final word on it, a rare item such as this deserves more care.
